Jupp Heynckes answered 2012 with the 2012-13 treble: a record 91 Bundesliga points, a 3–2 cup final win over Stuttgart, and a 2–1 victory over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley. Pep Guardiola arrived immediately afterwards and spent three seasons reshaping how the team built play, winning every league title but never the Champions League.

The second treble came under Hansi Flick in 2020, in empty stadiums: 1–0 against Paris Saint-Germain in Lisbon, after an 8–2 quarter-final win over Barcelona that remains the heaviest defeat of that club's modern era. Robert Lewandowski scored 55 goals across that season and later broke Gerd Müller's 49-year-old single-season Bundesliga record with 41 goals in 2021-22.

Eleven consecutive Bundesliga titles ran from 2012-13 to 2022-23 before Bayer Leverkusen went unbeaten in 2023-24. Bayern won the league back in 2024-25 under Vincent Kompany, the same season Thomas Müller left after 25 years and a club-record number of appearances.
